When it comes to wedding table themes, there is a fine line between romantic and cheesy, between fun and tacky and between classy and boring. It’s really hard to get it right! There are hundreds of themes you could go for, but our advice is to make it personal. What’s more unique and memorable than something that comes from the heart? Capital cities and colour have been done a million times, so give your tables themes no one else will. Uniqueness is key when you’re wedding planning – here are a couple of ideas to get the ball rolling…
Put it on the map
Your wedding table names could all be related to particular locations that are linked to you and your partner. It could be where you live, where your first date was, your first holiday, or the place you met. Anywhere personal to the two of you will add a lovely personal touch to your table names. Pair them with a little heart-shaped map of the place and viola – a perfect, special layout.
If you and your partner are partial to a little drink every now and then, why not put together a list of your favourite beverages and use them as your table names? You could even serve a jug or bottle of the relevant drink at each table for your guests to enjoy. If the drink isn’t suited to a guest at that particular table, it will encourage them to mingle and trade drinks with others – bringing people together and getting them a little merry all at once! You could even provide a hangover kit as a favour if you’re feeling extra thoughtful!
Play that funky music
For all you music-lovers, a great idea is to pick your favourite songs as your table names. Display them on a personalised vinyl record and give compilations of your favourite songs on CD as your wedding favours. You could even leave a little note in the CD sleeves letting your guests know that they have to come up for a dance with the bride and groom when their song comes on at the evening reception. This way, you’ll get a dance with everyone!
A date to remember
One of the most romantic ways to name your tables is after some key dates in your relationship. You could use the day you met, your first date, the day you got engaged, both of your birthdays etc. It is also an idea to write with the date a short paragraph on why it was such a special time for the two of you. These dates are a lovely way to let your guests know a little more about your journey together. Not to mention, they add a gorgeous touch to the day.
Keep it in the family
This wedding table idea is a really sweet and special one. Think about the couples who inspire you in your family or close friends – surely a great way to show them your appreciation would be through a table of their own at your wedding! Whether you look up to your parents, grandparents, your aunt and uncle or your older siblings, having these extraordinary couples at the top of each table is a fitting way to kick off your life as a married couple.
Silver screen romance
If you have any favourite films, you could use powerful or funny quotes from them as your table names. Perhaps you could include the first film you saw at the cinema together or a film you could watch every weekend and not get bored of – anything could work. From love stories like The Notebook (‘Do you think our love can make miracles?’) or classics like Back to the Future (‘If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.’), lots of films have great quotes. Just use your imagination and your guests will love this idea!
