After receiving plenty of wonderful entries to their ‘Happily Ever After’ competition, Willow Burn Hospice have narrowed the couples down to three lucky finalists. The three chosen couples have until December 12th to raise as much money for Willow Burn Hospice as possible, and the couple who raises the highest amount will win every aspect of their wedding provided by generous suppliers from across the region. Now, let’s meet those lucky finalists…
Couple One: Alec and Kirsty
Alec and Kirsty have been together for four years and Kirsty is stepmother to Alec’s four children. They recently got engaged and not in the most traditional of places – Alec popped the question at the circus! He made sure they could both get involved in one of the acts and got down on one knee in front of the whole audience before Kirsty agreed to marry him. They plan to raise as much money as possible in order to win their wedding and help an incredible charity!
Part of the wedding Kirsty is most looking forward to: “The dress.”
Part of the wedding Alec is most looking forward to: “Well… just marrying her!”
Couple Two: Rachel and Martin
Rachel and Martin have been together since 2003. They met while she was a waitress and he was a head chef!
It’s safe to say this couple have been through hell and back to get to where they are now. Rachel has battled a brain tumour and was left with facial paralysis and partial sight after the operation to remove it. Martin himself then became ill and had his bowel removed. Through all of this, they have stayed strong together and now have three beautiful children. They truly deserve a perfect wedding day.
Rachel has said: “We’ve been through so much and now I just think this is my time, it’s our time to do something for us.”
Couple Three: Rachael and Matthew
Rachael and Matthew have been together for three years and they have a gorgeous little girl.
This is what Rachael had to say about being involved in the competition: “We can’t express how much winning the Happily Ever After wedding would mean to us… We seem to do everything the hard way or the wrong way around, so having our dream wedding handed to us would truly be the cherry on top of what has been a perfect year for us, after the birth of our beautiful daughter! We hope to raise as much money as possible for such a wonderful charity, as whether we win or lose the competition, Willow Burn will continue to provide an amazing service to the community, so they need as much help as possible.”
